Saturday, August 17th

10a-11:30a Dance Master Class with Cassie Abate, Co-Head Musical Theatre Program

Wear dance attire and jazz shoes. Bring a headshot and resume. Cassie will work with students on how to sequence movement and infuse character and storytelling elements during a dance audition. 

11:45a-1:45p Song Audition Master Class with Tom Delbello, Co-Head Musical Theatre Program

Bring a 32-bar or 1-minute cut of one of your musical theatre college audition songs. No piano accompanist will be provided, so bring recorded tracks and a playback device. Tom will work with each student individually and give you valuable feedback. Bring a headshot and resume and wear comfortable clothing or remain in dance attire.

1:45p-2:15p Program Overview and Q&A with Tom, Cassie, and Aaron Brown - Co-Heads of Musical Theatre

3:30p-4:30p Campus Tour (please wear comfortable shoes as there are a lot of hills) Meet in front of the Performing Arts Center. There is a pay parking lot directly behind the building (corner of Edward Gary and University Drive), 405 Moon Street 

4:30p-5p Current Student Meet-and-Greet + Q+A - Campus tour will conclude with a Q+A session with current students and CAC alumni.

Tom Delbello is a multidisciplinary theatre educator who holds an MFA in Directing from Texas State. His career as a performer and director has taken him around the world and as an educator, he seeks to create a brave space for students to fail forward on their path to discovering their unique voice as storytellers. Tom will also answer your questions about the Texas State MT program and their prescreen process.

Cassie Abate holds an MFA in musical theatre and years of experience as a dancer and award-winning choreographer. She seeks to empower young artists and prepare them for work at the highest caliber of the business. Cassie will teach a brief dance combo and give feedback to students. She is the author of The Art and Practice of Musical Theatre Choreography.

Aaron Brown holds an MFA in Directing from Baylor University and a BM in Music Theatre from Oklahoma City University. In his directing career, Aaron has had the opportunity to work on new works and develop fresh-takes on established pieces. Aaron is a proud supporter and promoter of diversity in the arts. He is a firm believer that Representation Matters!
